Connecting SOA with ESB

There is a lot of discussions and various blog posts on the subject of service oriented architecture - SOA. Question is: How do I employ SOA effectively, having ESB at hand?

I have found an interesting article by Bobby Woolf of IBM discussing exactly this matter. It seems Microsoft is concurring as Nick Malik is highlighting in his post.

It is great to see convergence like this. Following the thought - there are many occasions when business modellers have deep influence on the service bus. To make their life easier, would it not be great to provide with extensions to the existing BPM management tools and administer your ESB? Maybe even standardise then?
